About the Company

We are recruiting on behalf of a successful Chemical company seeking a practical and versatile Maintenance Technician to join its facilities team.


About the Role

This role is responsible for maintaining site buildings, services, and equipment, ensuring the facility continues to operate safely and efficiently. Working across a varied manufacturing environment, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support site improvement projects, and help maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and housekeeping.


Responsibilities

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and contribute to a positive site safety culture.
  • Support and deliver planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding across buildings, equipment, and site services.
  • Undertake work within your trade competency while coordinating specialist support where required.
  • Assist with the installation, modification, and commissioning of equipment and facilities systems.
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests across the site.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor stock levels and request spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials when required.
  • Provide basic guidance on facilities systems and emergency procedures where appropriate.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment, including buildings, plant areas, and external spaces.

Qualifications

  • Previous practical experience in a maintenance, facilities, construction, building services, or site-based trade role.
  • A recognised qualification or strong vocational background in a relevant discipline, such as plumbing, electrical installation, mechanical maintenance, heating and ventilation, or general building services.
  • Experience working safely on an operational, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or construction site.
  • Good practical fault-finding, repair, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use technical drawings, manuals, and equipment information where required.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise maintenance requests, and take ownership of tasks.
  • A good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work at height and undertake manual handling duties when required.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
  • A recognised trade qualification, such as City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent, in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or another relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of building regulations, permit-to-work systems, and contractor management.
  • Experience using a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance.
  • Previous self-employed or contracting experience involving maintenance or trade work across customer or operational sites.
