Maintenance Technician – Hull & Surrounding Areas
About the Role
As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Hull and the surrounding areas, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.
You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.
Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers daily. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.
This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functional environment for customers and colleagues
- Following the planned work schedule to achieve first-time fixes, improving efficiency and effectiveness
- Working closely with team members to share best practices and knowledge
- Conducting general day-to-day store and property maintenance
- Using mobile devices (phone & tablet) to optimise work completion and updates
- Representing the Tesco brand by embodying our core values (serving customers, communities, and the planet)
- Maintaining a positive attitude and pride in wearing the uniform
- Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback
- Supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Key Tasks Include:
- Confidently interacting with external contractors for seamless repairs
- Collaborating with the team to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Maintaining high energy levels while managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Supporting store management to keep operations running smoothly
- Minimising customer disruption through coordinated repairs
Requirements
As a key member of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate:
- Enthusiasm for maintaining high standards
- Previous experience in maintenance, engineering, or construction
- Digital confidence, including effective use of tablets for scheduling and emails
Operational Skills & Qualifications:
- ONC or equivalent vocational qualification
- Full driving license (essential for travel between sites)
- Health & safety awareness
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with Office 365 tools
- Completion of all relevant technical training upskilling modules
