Maintenance Technician (Night Shifts) – Thermo Fisher Scientific
Location & Shift Pattern
- Work schedule: 12-hour shift / nights
- Environmental conditions: Cleanroom (no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, or facial hair permitted)
- Operations: Office & Warehouse
- Shift pattern:
- 4 nights on / 4 nights off
- Night shifts only (6 PM – 6 AM)

In this role, you’ll be integral to advancing health, environmental, and safety initiatives. As a Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities include:
- Ensuring optimal equipment performance in cleanroom environments.
- Resolving complex technical issues through preventive maintenance and urgent breakdowns.
- Collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve efficiency.
Your efforts directly impact the production of scientific and medical products used by researchers and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain customised production equipment during reactive breakdowns, critical equipment calibrations, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain and manage supporting facility equipment, including:
- Air Handling Units (AHU)
- Cochran Steam Boilers
- Chiller plant equipment

Preventive Maintenance (PM) Excellence
- Ensure preventive maintenance work orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with Parts Control Specialists to maintain minimum/maximum spares inventory accordingly.
- Document maintenance tasks in IBM Maximo (CMMS) for traceability. (Training provided.)
Contractor Coordination
- Oversee external contractors, including reviewing:
- Training documents
- Risk Assessment/Method Statements (RAMS) prior to site visits

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
- Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic experience, supported by an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship and relevant workplace training.
- Familiarity with Alan Bradley PLC and fault diagnosis (advantageous).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cochran Steam Boilers
- HVAC/Chiller systems
- Ability to work under planned preventive maintenance timelines.
- familiarity with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) protocols.
- Strong understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (multidepartment collaboration needed).
