About Company
One of Europe's most modern production facilities is currently being setup in Telford – the "UK Gun Hall" project.
Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Limited (RWM UK) – a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group and part of the Weapon and Ammunition Division – is Rheinmetall's centre of excellence for the production and maintenance of large calibre weapon systems in the United Kingdom.
Position Overview
Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of machines and equipment for the production of large-calibre weapon systems. Manufacturing takes place on large CNC machines, e.g. lathes, deep-hole drilling machines, honing machines, autofrettage machines, milling machines, etc., in a 3-shift operation.
The maintenance specialists works in a small team with a focus on mechanics, electronics, hydraulics and machining. Intensive training will take place on the job in our Telford facility.
What You Will Do
- Carrying out routine and emergency repairs to machines and further equipment
- Implementation of new installations, conversions and adaptations of hardware and software
- Ensuring the operational readiness of work equipment and workplaces
- Inspection, maintenance and repair of operating equipment
- Planning and implementation of preventive maintenance
- Maintain detailed logs and reports of all maintenance work performed
- Give input for continuous improvement of related processes, worksteps, tools, etc. to improve overall performance
- Compliance with health and safety regulations in the workplace and during the implementation of repair and maintenance measures
- Support and work closely with production, production planning, tool department and external contractors to fix issues with machines and equipment
- Ability to diagnose issues and find appropriate solutions
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate with managers and team members

What Qualifications You Should Have
- Completed vocational training as an industrial mechanic, mechatronic technician or in a comparable field
- Competent in identifying electrical and mechanical problems and find a quick and safe way to solve them
- Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures.
- Professional experience in maintenance at an industrial company for CNC machining
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, as part of a Team, or individually.
- Motivated and disciplined with an excellent work ethic, technical aptitude, continuous improvement mind-set and can demonstrate attention to detail.
- Motivated to set up a new production for large calibre weapons systems in the UK (Telford)
- Willingness to work in a 3-shift pattern and be on call, including weekends
