# Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Electrical Bias) (Astute’s Power Team)

About the Role

Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a prominent biomass energy producer operating a state-of-the-art wood pellet manufacturing and biomass power generation facility in Invergordon. We are seeking a motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician with an electrical bias to join a sustainable energy company at the forefront of renewable power innovation.

Responsibilities

Core Duties

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the role includes:

  • Performing planned preventative and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance on biomass and wood pellet production equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults to swiftly resolve issues and minimise downtime, ensuring optimal operational performance.
  • Inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting:
    • Motors and pumps
    • Conveyors and gearboxes
    • Bearings, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Supporting production teams by responding to breakdowns and ensuring equipment reliability.
  • Supporting PLC fault diagnosis, process improvement initiatives, and continuous efficiency enhancements.
  • Conducting maintenance inspections, testing, and servicing in accordance with the plant’s planned maintenance programme.
  • Ensuring all actions comply with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Record-keeping of maintenance activities and contributing to root cause analysis and equipment reliability improvements.
  • Collaborating with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to deliver safe and efficient plant operations.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications

Candidates must hold:

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Time-served experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • PLC fault-finding experience.
  • Technical knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
