Lead Waste Management Company – Maintenance Technician (Mechanical & Electrical)

Location: Wrexham, Shift: Flexible (6am–2pm or 2pm–10pm) + 6-hour overtime every other Saturday

Astute’s Power Team are partnering with a leading waste management company to recruit a multi-skilled maintenance technician for their recycling process facility in Wrexham.

About the Role

You will cover both planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical equipment within a 2-shift system (with overtime).


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct reactive and planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical assets
  • Perform breakdown repairs to maximise plant availability
  • Carry out plant inspections to ensure safety compliance
  • Diagnose and report equipment failures, incidents, and damage
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards

Requirements

Professional Qualifications

  • Ideal: Apprentice-trained in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum: Level 3 Engineering qualification (applicable subject)
  • Strong preference for experience with IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) certification

Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of post-apprenticeship experience
  • Hands-on expertise with electrical assets, including:
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Drives & motors
    • Inverters
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assets, including:
    • Conveyor systems
    • Balers & trommels
    • Belts & gearboxes
  • Competence with IT maintenance systems (CMMS) and industrial control technology

Personal Attributes

  • Capable of working early/late shifts and occasional weekend overtime
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
