Band 5 – Multi-Skilled Technician (37.5 hours per week)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a time-served, multi-skilled technician to join the on-site maintenance team at Stepping Hill Hospital.
As the post holder, you will be responsible for performing operational maintenance duties, including both reactive and planned maintenance for:
- Electrical distribution systems
- Specialist healthcare systems (including IPS and UPS)
- Nurse Call & Lifts
- Building Management System (BMS)
- Pneumatic Tube System (with an expectation to perform some basic mechanical work)
This role requires a strong focus on healthcare environments, ensuring reliability, safety, and smooth operations across the Trust’s premises.
Responsibilities
- Work across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective maintenance solutions
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance, including emergency response as required
- Perform electrical and basic mechanical repairs where needed
- Contribute to out-of-hours on-call coverage to support out-of-hours staff
- Provide additional cross-disciplinary support to the maintenance team
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair:
- Lifts
- Nurse Call systems
- BMS & Pneumatic Tube Systems -Pressure, steam-raising, and other control systems

Requirements
- Qualified electrical-based technician with:
- A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation/Apprenticeship
- Experience of Building Management Systems (BMS) and mechanical healthcare systems (e.g., steam-raising, pressure systems) – (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
- Commitment to health and safety standards in a fast-paced environment
- Availability for unplanned overtime, including ad-hoc and out-of-hours on-call support (as needed for patient care)
