Maintenance Technician - Newbury
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Newbury team in the position of Maintenance Technician.
This is an operational position working within a multidisciplinary maintenance team, where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of plant and equipment at our busy manufacturing site in Newbury.
You will provide knowledge and technical support in the event of equipment or plant failure, ensuring plant equipment breakdowns are managed effectively and complete planned maintenance tasks to support plant performance metrics.
The role will also require you to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives, support machine upgrades and assist with new equipment installation in line with capital investment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift work on 12-hour Panama shift pattern
- Outstanding safety awareness and attitude towards personal compliance is critical, and you’ll have a clear understanding of general Health and Safety legislation and its practical application in the workplace. Your attention to detail and ability to follow compliance policies will ensure high standards across all aspects of the role.
- Previous experience in a similar field, ideally from a manufacturing environment
- Time served apprenticeship with an accredited training program
- Highly motivated, use initiative, problem-solve and act decisively to support the production team achieve daily targets.
- Flexibility in terms of supporting shifts during periods of absence, holiday etc to ensure the plants maintenance requirements are always covered. This could be straight overtime and/or shift cover and will be agreed by the site’s maintenance leads/management.
- Build effective working relationship with the production leaders and operators to ensure targets and objectives are achieved.
- Ability to provide accurate information and regular progress updates as required by management
- You will possess significant hands-on knowledge of working with, electrical or mechanical systems, PLC controls, Motor control, pumps, hydraulics, cranes to support improvement and problem identification during machine issues.

About You
Essential:
- Accredited engineering apprenticeship (Time Served) preferable in a manufacturing industry
- A recognised trade qualification. NVQ Level 3 Qualification or equivalent is minimum requirement
- Good computer literacy
- Good written skills for completing maintenance reports and documentation.
- Communication of technical issues to the production team
