Maintenance Technician

Main Purpose of the Job

  • To provide everyday maintenance to maintain and improve company assets
  • To ensure site/equipment compliance with legal obligations and Bleckmann/customer requirements
  • To uphold Health & Safety rules and regulations
  • To identify cost-saving alternatives for minor on-site repairs within your skill set

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Compliance

  • Conduct weekly testing and recording across two sites
  • Perform planned maintenance, including:
    • Sprinkler systems, water flushing
    • Emergency & internal lighting, fire alarms
    • Sanitary ware, disabled refuge areas
  • Carry out minor repairs and schedule tasks via outlet reports (e.g. leaks, painting, property repairs)

Contractor & Project Support

  • Coordinate with contractors for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)—including:
    • Providing access, inductions, permits, and sign-offs
    • Monitoring site safety with H&S and Facilities Coordinators
  • Assist in preparing PTW (Permit to Work), RAMS (Risk Assessment), and inspection supplies
  • Support internal projects, including client-build construction tracking via the project management tool

Emergency & Sustainability Focus

  • Prioritise and respond to emergency repairs
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives in maintenance & sustainability
  • Support waste minimisation and product lifecycle extensions for clients

Health & Safety & Documentation

  • Audit tool kits regularly and conduct stock takes of small consumables
  • Attend monthly H&S meetings (active committee member)
  • Attend fortnightly Facilities Committee meetings

Profile & Qualifications

Essential Training & Experience

  • Electrical safety certificate
  • Water hygiene certification
  • MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) license & MHE (Manual Handling Equipment) certification
  • Experience in refurbishment & repair work
  • Knowledge of warehouse maintenance, UK Health & Safety Legislation, CAMS systems, and statutory compliance

Candidates Must Hold:

  • Valid driving licence (required to travel between dual sites)
