Maintenance Technician – Vital Role at Tesco

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco, you’ll be instrumental in upholding the integrity of our stores as a safe, functional, and welcoming space for both customers and colleagues. By delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems, you’ll ensure efficient operations that directly enhance the shopping experience of thousands of customers daily.

Your technical expertise will drive problem-solving, with a focus on safety, compliance, and quality. This hands-on role thrives on a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Technician, your duties will include:

  • Coordinating with External Contractors: Seamlessly managing repairs and methodology.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Maintaining high-quality service standards and fostering a supportive workplace.
  • Sustained Energy: Efficiently juggling tasks with high performance and adaptability.
  • Supporting Store Operations: Ensuring smooth functionality of facilities and equipment.
  • Minimising Customer Disruption: Prioritising minimal impact during repairs and scheduled maintenance.

Daily Tasks

  • Ensuring all Tesco sites remain safe and functional for customers and staff.
  • Following the scheduled work plan to achieve first-time fix success, improving efficiency.
  • Networking with team members to share best practices and enhance expertise.
  • Conducting general store and property maintenance for a polished environment.
  • Utilising mobile devices (tablets and phones) to optimise workflows and update progress.
  • Embodying Tesco’s core values:

  • Participating in local and national meetings, providing input and feedback.

Requirements

Candidates will demonstrate a passion for maintaining high standards in a fast-paced retail setting.

  • Proven experience in maintenance, engineering, or construction.
  • Digital competence for tablet-based work scheduling and email management.
  • Technical Savviness:
    • ONC (or equivalent) qualification preferred.
    • Valid full driving licence.
    • Acute health and safety awareness.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
    • Completion of relevant technical training modules.

✔ Annual Bonus: Up to 10% of base salary. ✔ Holiday Entitlement: Starting at 25 days, plus a personal day and Bank Holidays. ✔ Parental Leave:
