NHS Property Services – Maintenance Technician (Plumbing)

We now have an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Technician (Plumbing) to join our team, based in Boldon, covering sites across County Durham, on a permanent contract.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Technician (Plumbing), you will provide planned and reactive maintenance services across a varied healthcare estate. Working as part of our Mechanical Services team, you will help maintain critical systems and ensure our properties remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
The role will focus primarily on plumbing maintenance activities, including:
- Repairs
- Fault finding
- Installations
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Water hygiene compliance works
You will also support legionella management programmes and respond to reactive maintenance requests when required.

Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in commercial plumbing maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of water systems, water hygiene and legionella control measures
- Experience carrying out fault diagnosis and planned preventative maintenance activities
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive plumbing maintenance across the healthcare estate.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on a range of plumbing systems and equipment.
- Support water hygiene programmes and legionella compliance activities.
- Complete plumbing installations, replacements and remedial works as required.
- Ensure all maintenance records and compliance documentation are accurately completed.
- Work safely and in line with company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Provide excellent customer service while working within occupied healthcare environments.
- Handle routine tasks and social interactions in line with policies and guidance.

Hours and Working Pattern
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Consistent hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Participation in an on-call rota
