Mechanical Maintainer – Bioresources (Shropshire) – Severn Trent

About the Role
Join us as a Mechanical Maintainer in Bioresources, delivering on renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and the production of high-quality biosolids for the agricultural sector.
Why This Role Matters
You’ll support Severn Trent’s carbon reduction commitments by maintaining critical systems for:
- Sludge treatment
- Biomethane gas and electricity production (contributing to ST’s sustainability goals)
- Biosolids that meet Biosolids Assurance Scheme and Farming Rules for Water standards, fostering strong partnerships with local farmers.
The Bioresources Operational Team ensures efficient operation across Area 1 sites, including: - Barnhurst - Monkmoor - Rushmoor - Coalport
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be the trusted specialist for mechanical systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant performance:
- Install, maintain, and repair pumps, compressors, dosing systems, motors, gearboxes, and more
- Fabricate, weld, lubricate, and operate workshop machinery (e.g., lathes, drill presses)
- Diagnose faults, perform inspections, and update technical drawings using Failure Mode Effective Analysis (FMEA)
- Manage end-to-end maintenance—from ordering parts to final installation—while supporting new process design and builds
- Monitor SCADA systems, respond to alarms, and enforce lifting operations and safety regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Bioresources, Wastewater Recycling) to meet regulatory targets
- Document maintenance records and use IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) effectively

What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
✔ Technical background with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment ✔ Proven ability to work independently and in teams with a proactive problem-solving mindset ✔ Health and safety awareness for high-risk industrial environments—legionella control experience is a plus ✔ Experience managing contractors/suppliers and prioritizing technical tasks ✔ Proficiency with SCADA, FMEA, and Failure Mode Analysis ✔ Ability to convert diagnoses into solutions or technical updates
