Maintenance Technician

Location: Staverton, Wiltshire Working Pattern: Shift-based (12-hour rotating shifts), including weekends

Salary & Benefits

£57,900.00 + potential bonus + generous pension scheme + other fantastic benefits

  • Maintaining and improving equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Driving performance through planned maintenance, rapid fault resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting engineering and operations teams to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and product availability.

Daily Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll act as a technical expert across the factory, focusing on:

  • Equipment & Reliability:
    • Maintain process, packing, and utility equipment for maximum reliability and performance.
    • Diagnose faults and execute effective repairs to minimise downtime.
    • Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Uphold site safety procedures and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Issue permits to work and follow safe isolation procedures.
  • Operations & System Management:

    • Assist in plant start-ups, shutdowns, and product changeovers.
    • Utilise our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work and performance.
    • Create, manage, and complete work orders.
    • Contribute to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
  • Collaboration & Leadership:

    • Support spare parts control and equipment purchasing decisions.
    • Maintain product quality, integrity, and food safety standards.
    • Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and develop team skills.
    • Facilitate cross-shift communication for seamless operations.
    • Uphold personal and collective safety standards.

Requirements

We’re looking for passionate team players who thrive on solving engineering challenges. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical/technical engineering (e.g., HNC, ONC, NVQ or equivalent).
  • Practical experience in engineering or factory maintenance.
  • Hands-on knowledge in manufacturing environments, particularly with PLC-controlled production/packing equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and mastery of maintenance management systems.
  • Proficiency in IT and PC-controlled machinery.
  • A proactive mindset for continuous improvement and troubleshooting.
