About the Role
Millets Wildlife Park is seeking a motivated individual to assist the mammal team with the care of animals under supervision. This is an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on experience with a variety of zoological species, including mammals, as well as avian, reptilian, invertebrate, and aquatic animals.
As part of the dedicated animal team, the successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high standards of husbandry, deliver inspirational educational demonstrations, and ensure exceptional animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily care, feeding, and husbandry for a range of zoological species
- Preparation and distribution of diets
- Monitoring animal health, behaviour, and welfare, with prompt reporting of concerns
- Maintaining enclosures, equipment, and facilities to a high standard
- Participation in educational presentations, talks, and visitor experiences
- Assisting with enrichment programmes to promote positive welfare
- Keeping accurate animal records and training logs
- Supporting conservation, education, and public engagement initiatives

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking candidates with:
- Experience in animal husbandry and a passion for animal welfare
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards of care
- A confident, professional, and personable demeanour when engaging with visitors
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
- Reliable, flexible hours, including weekends, bank holidays, and seasonal periods
