About the Role
This Managed Security Practice Lead opportunity sits within a Microsoft-focused Managed Service Provider (MSP) servicing mid-market organisations across professional services, public sector, and regulated industries. Security is central to the business’s differentiation in the market, with Microsoft Security forming the backbone of the technical stack. This is a newly created role designed to evolve and mature this capability.
You will lead a newly formed security practice as the first dedicated hire. Initially a player/leader role without an existing team, this position will grow with the practice’s success, making you the natural candidate for building and leading that team.
The role bridges portfolio development, hands-on delivery, and pre-sales expertise, focusing on security-led opportunities.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Genuine ownership of a Microsoft-led managed security practice, rather than inheriting an existing structure
- Significant influence over service design, go-to-market (GTM) positioning, and how Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Entra, and Purview are packaged and sold
- Player/leader role with a clear career path into security practice leadership as the team scales
- Broad scope encompassing:
- Portfolio development
- Client delivery
- Pre-sales expertise
- Technical authority
- Work environment where Microsoft Security is a strategic priority—not a bolt-on
- Direct involvement in Microsoft co-sell activity and exposure to the commercials of the practice, including margin, attach rates, and recurring revenue

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
