Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of the organisation's financial records, supporting management reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is looking to contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and process invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies.
- Take ownership of balance sheet management, including the preparation and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Budgeting & Reporting:
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports.
- Monitor expenditure against budget and investigate variances.
- Monitor financial transactions to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.

Audit & Compliance:
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations, including tax filings, VAT, and payroll.
Payroll Management:
- Process monthly payroll, including deductions, pensions, and statutory payments.
- Liaise with employees and external providers to resolve payroll-related queries.
Systems & Process Improvement:
- Assist in developing and maintaining financial systems and processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen financial controls, and deliver cost savings.
- Contribute to finance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
Qualifications: (desirable but not essential)
- Part-qualified or fully qualified (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Proven experience in a finance, management accounting, or accounting role.
- Experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy in financial processing.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
