Management Accountant (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Doncaster
Salary: Competitive

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Management Accountant to join our finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support a key business project.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in the preparation of management accounts, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis, while also providing support across the wider finance function when required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of key accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of full monthly management accounts, supporting information, and reporting packs
  • Ownership and completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Monthly overhead analysis and investigation of budget-to-actual variances
  • Completion of Group Reporting Packs, including commentary and analysis
  • Preparation of cashflow forecasts and projections
  • Calculation of stock provisions, bad debt provisions, and customer rebate provisions
  • Preparation and posting of weekly and monthly journals
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of KPIs
  • Attendance at weekly and monthly management meetings
  • Providing cover for the Financial Controller or Accounts Supervisor when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar role
  • Strong month-end and management reporting experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • A proactive and adaptable approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ideally studying towards, or holding, a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), although Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidates will also be considered
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
  • Experience of ERP systems, with SAP experience desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience working within a similar finance environment is essential.
