Description
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working alongside a team of three other qualified Management Accountants, the purpose of the Management Accountant is to deliver accurate and on-time financial reporting to satisfy internal and external requirements.
You will work on UK and USA Management Accounts, owning your allocated cost centres, supporting the business to make more efficient decisions around budgeting and forecasting.
With your strong analytical skills and attention to detail, you will help ensure that financial processes run smoothly to meet deadlines, and that robust financial controls are applied so that reporting is delivered to a high standard.
This role is based in our Filton Head Office. We offer Hybrid working (three office days and two WFH days, and Flexible working hours meaning core hours are between 10am - 4pm).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely management accounts with ownership over key areas, including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.
- Maintain ownership of allocated Cost Centers, partnering with budget owners to identify opportunities to manage budgets more efficiently, providing education and recommendations, challenging decisions tactfully to add value.
- Partner with the Commercial Finance Team to manage budgets and support Planning, Performance Tracking and Metrics, effectively managing any changes that impact the numbers and ensuring that costs are correct.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and Group accounting policies to support month-end processes; ensure costs are accounted for and allocated correctly, prepayments are managed, and pre-empting any issues.
- Manage our cash flow processes to accurately report on and forecast the financial health of the business and align to Group requirements, maintaining awareness around what’s impacting budgets from a cash flow, cash flow forecasting and Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable perspective.
- Partner with the Credit Controlling team to identify opportunities to mitigate risks impacting the P&L.
- Maintain comprehensive internal process notes and accurate financial records to ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations with accuracy, delivering actionable insights.
- Own key processes to support the audit process including preparing the reports, supporting testing, and responding to any auditor queries by providing investigation and full picture solutions.
- Support the senior finance team in responding to external stakeholder requests, including HMRC enquiries and compliance checks.
- Deliver ad-hoc analysis and interpretation of financial data to help guide business performance and influence decisions.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and embrace automation to deliver change.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the finance team and the wider business, sharing knowledge, helping colleagues and promoting a spirit of mutual respect and support.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified: Professional accountancy body qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
- Reporting: Strong accounts preparation and technical reporting knowledge applying FRS102 practices to support month-end and year-end processes.
- Rigor and accuracy: Strong regard for compliance, applies rigour around processes, operates with strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurately to tight deadlines.
- Commercial mindset: Applies a deep understanding of how cash flows and how revenue is generated, challenging and supporting the business to make better decisions to drive profitability.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders, and translates business needs into plans considerate of financial restraints and implications.
- Process Improvement: Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset with regards to processes, spots opportunities and delivers change effectively.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Builds relationships with stakeholders with ease, supports the learning of others, and operates with a helpful disposition to support the goals of the team.
- Systems: Advanced Excel skills, experience of Power BI preferred, knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP concur is also helpful.
