Management Accountant

Are you an ambitious Management Accountant looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Management Accountant to join a highly respected organisation that plays a key role in shaping investment across the North of England. This is a varied and rewarding position offering excellent exposure to senior stakeholders, business partnering, financial reporting and strategic decision-making.

The Role

As Management Accountant, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting budget holders and providing meaningful financial insight that helps drive informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and variance analysis
  • Produce insightful reporting packs for senior leadership and budget holders
  • Partner with operational managers to provide financial advice and commercial support
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and year-end processes
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, banking and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support cashflow monitoring and treasury activities
  • Develop and improve financial systems, reporting processes and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practice
  • Contribute to wider finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We're looking for someone who is proactive, analytical and enjoys working closely with stakeholders across the business.

You'll ideally have:

  • Qualified or part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience within a Management Accountant position
  • Strong month-end management accounting experience
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience producing budgets, forecasts and financial reports
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
  • A continuous improvement mindset with experience enhancing financial processes
