Management Accountant

Finance Administrator (Group Finance Support)

Role Overview

To assist the Group Finance team on a day-to-day basis, providing a comprehensive and proactive support to help deliver finance objectives.


Main Responsibilities

Core Finance Operations

  • Data processing
    • Full day-to-day financial responsibility for two key operating companies
    • Ownership of the Group cost centre and management of cross-charges to subsidiaries
    • Oversight, review, and posting of all transactions, including accruals and prepayments
    • Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports with budget comparisons and rolling reforecasts
    • Attendance at monthly review meetings with stakeholders to analyse and challenge variances

Payroll & Accounting Support

  • Support in payroll reviews, reconciliations, and GL (General Ledger) posting
  • Handling payroll processing, pension submissions, and RTI (Real Time Information) filings
    • Submission of P45, P60, P11D, and PAYE/NIC
  • Raising and monitoring purchase orders against invoices received

Bank & Expenses Control

  • Bank operations

    • Setting up and authorising payments via online banking
    • Reconciling bank accounts within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
    • Maintenance of bank mandates
  • Expenses management

    • Verification of expenses claims against receipts
    • Ensuring compliance with company expense policy
    • Reviewing credit card statements
    • Recharging client expenses where applicable

Financial Compliance & Reporting

  • Monthly variance analysis meetings with key stakeholders
  • Preparation and reconciliation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Assist in year-end account closing, including:
    • Preparation of approved sets of accounts for submission
    • Uploading transactions and drafting management accounts
  • Filing with Companies House/HMRC, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Timely preparation and reporting of monthly management accounts (across Group companies)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Management of credit control, including resolving invoice queries
  • Identification of opportunities for financial system improvements
  • Development and implementation of policies aligned with the Financial Maturity Plan
  • Ad-hoc general accounting and Finance team support
  • Adherence to company policies, including:
    • Anti-bribery guidelines
    • Environmental and Quality Management Systems (compliant with ISO standards)

Person Specification

Required Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role with comparable responsibilities

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proactive, strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Target-driven, committed to meeting timely deadlines
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, with numerical strength and focus
  • Essential working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365
    • MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications & Certifications

  • AAT qualified or actively working towards ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent qualification)
