Management Accountant

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits

The Opportunity

Forge Talent are partnering with a growing, private equity-backed utilities and infrastructure business near Bolton in the search for a Management Accountant.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, commercially focused business that is continuing to invest and grow. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing valuable insight to help drive business performance.

The role offers plenty of variety and exposure across the finance function, making it ideal for someone looking to develop their career within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and supporting commentary.
  • Complete month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Analyse financial performance, investigating variances against budget and prior periods.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for senior management.
  • Support cash flow reporting and working capital management.
  • Business partner with operational teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
  • Assist with the year-end audit and statutory reporting process.
  • Support improvements to finance processes, controls and reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and support for finance projects as the business continues to grow.

About You

You'll be a proactive finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-moving environment and is keen to build on your management accounting experience.

We're looking for someone with:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA part-qualified, newly qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
  • Previous experience preparing monthly management accounts.
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/finance systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
  • A proactive approach and a desire to improve processes within a growing finance team.
