Management Accountant

Description
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will expand and enhance the organisation’s financial processes. This role will provide timely and accurate management accounts, variance analysis with meaningful insights that directly support decision-making.
This role is hybrid, working in the office a minimum of 2/3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare Monthly Management Accounts
- Compile and analyse financial data to produce accurate and timely management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
- Conduct monthly variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and provide commentary to support decision making
- Analyse aged debtors and creditors
- Prepare bank covenant reporting

Budgeting and forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Work closely with budget holders to monitor performance against budget

Business partnering
- Act as a business partner for key finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Assist with tailored financial analysis to assist departments to envision financial outcome of future decisions where required

Oversee accounts payable function
- Providing support, development and training

Internal controls and compliance
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Support the annual external audit process

Payroll oversight
- Support payroll reconciliation and allocation across branches and departments
- Monitor staff costs and liaise with HR

VAT
- Prepare, submit and pay quarterly VAT returns

Reporting
- Preparing financial reports for senior leadership and other stakeholders as required
- Providing financial information to the relevant regulatory bodies including surveys

Process improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and reporting
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial system

Ad-hoc support
- As required to the senior finance team
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills (pivot tables, lookups)
- A working knowledge of VAT
- Must have experience preparing full management accounts
- Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries
- Comfortable working to strict deadlines with minimal supervision
- Previous experience using accounting systems (preferably Microsoft dynamics but not essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working with junior team members and outsourced providers.
- A team player with a collaborative, “can do” attitude and willingness to learn.
