Management Accountant – Growing Organisation
Morgan McKinley Northern Home Counties are excited to partner with a values-led organisation in Northamptonshire, seeking a Management Accountant to join their expanding finance team.
This excellent career opportunity is ideal for a commercially minded, part-qualified or qualified accountant looking to take ownership of the management accounts process while collaborating with operational teams to drive business performance. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, your role will be central to delivering insightful financial reporting, driving process improvements, and supporting strategic decision-making within a fast-growing, multi-site business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Produce monthly variance analysis, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities
- Deliver meaningful financial reporting and KPI analysis to support business performance
- Assist with board reporting packs and financial presentations
- Monitor business performance against budgets and forecasts
- Support the annual budgeting process and regular forecasting cycles
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and financial models for business planning
- Partner with operational managers to enhance financial understanding and forecasting accuracy
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with audit preparation and statutory reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting, and systems
- Support finance transformation initiatives, including system enhancements and automation projects
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support strategic business projects

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role
- Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis expertise
- Part-qualified or qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent
- Advanced Excel skills with experience in financial systems
- Commercially minded with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships and influence non-financial stakeholders

Desirable
- Experience in a multi-site business
- Background in childcare, education, hospitality, retail, or service-led industries
- Power BI or experience supporting finance systems improvements
