Management Accountant – Infrastructure

Location: Chester – 4 days office / 1 day from home Type: Permanent Newly created role within a growing international finance team

Salary: £50,000–£60,000

About the Role

Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys owning month-end processes, maintaining clean ledgers, and establishing order within a multi-entity group? thriving in a dynamic, expanding business where you can build and refine processes rather than merely inherit them?

We Do Group is looking for a Management Accountant to join our growing international infrastructure business. This newly established role reports to the Group Financial Controller, working alongside a new Project Accountant.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Owning entity-level financials (accruals, journals, balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Ensuring clean, reconciled data feeds into group consolidation and reporting.
  • Supporting a globally distributed team (hub-and-spoke model) to ensure proper transaction handling.
  • Assisting in scaling the accounting function as new regions expand.
  • Training and mentoring an accountancy apprentice.

Responsibilities

Your role responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly Close
    • Own the month-end close across all group entities.
    • Deliver a clean, reconciled trial balance for consolidation.

  • Data Accuracy & Controls

    • Review transaction accuracy from local teams, resolving coding issues at source.
    • Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, and month-end journals cross-regionally.
    • Manage the balance sheet reconciliation schedule, ensuring timely reconciliations.
  • Reconciliation & Analytical Work

    • Resolve reconciling items, escalating unresolved disputes to the Group Financial Controller.
    • Produce entity-level management accounts supporting group financial reporting.
  • Intercompany & Fixed Asset Management

    • Process and reconcile intercompany transactions, flag discrepancies.
    • Maintain the fixed asset register, manage depreciation, and conduct bank reconciliations.
  • Policy & Process Support

    • Apply group accounting policies (capitalisation, depreciation, accruals, FX) consistently.
    • Support Group FC and auditors with reconciled working papers and query responses.
  • Process Improvement & Scaling

    • Help set up new accounting processes and controls as entities expand.
    • Assist with an upcoming group ERP implementation to migrate from multiple local systems.

Wish List for the Right Candidate

  • A qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, or CIMA) – candidates close to qualification considered.
  • Strong balance sheet discipline, including accurate reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and prompt journal postings.
  • Comfortable in a fast-growing business, bringing structure to an evolving finance function.
  • Willing to mentor a junior accountancy apprentice.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, or CIMA) – finalists considered.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Experience managing multi-entity reconciliations from diverse systems.
  • Proven ability to drive financial closures independently.

  • Can adapt to a fast-evolving financial team.
  • Ability to scale operating procedures as the business grows.
