About the Role

Are you a Management Accountant who enjoys getting involved in every aspect of finance, rather than sitting behind month-end reports? We're recruiting for a growing, entrepreneurial business in Chester looking to appoint a Management Accountant to become a key member of a close-knit finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an SME environment, enjoys variety, and wants to play an active role in supporting the wider business.

Client Details

Working closely with the Head of Finance and partnering with the Managing Director of one of the group's entities, you'll have genuine visibility across the business. You'll also manage one direct report and be encouraged to challenge processes, improve controls and make a real impact. This isn't a role where you'll be confined to one area of finance. It's ideal for someone who enjoys rolling their sleeves up, taking ownership and being part of a hardworking, supportive team where everyone pulls together.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
