Management Accountant

up to £55k
Maidstone area / Kent
Must be CIMA or ACCA Finalist
Onsite Parking
Hybrid / 4 days in the office

I am recruiting for an absolutely fantastic role, suitable for a Management Accountant that is looking to step into a Junior Finance Manager role. This role is reporting to the Head of Finance and supervising a team of 5 (AR/AP). The role will suit someone who is looking to gain exposure, be offered the opportunity to develop professionally and personally.

This is a fast-paced environment which can be pressured at times, so therefore we need someone who is highly organised, has an excellent work ethic, self-sufficient and the willingness and drive to learn and grow. You will be solutions-focused and someone who can comfortably work off their own initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily financial operations, overseeing AP & AR functions
  • Holding monthly ledger review meetings
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Preparing and posting of standard monthly journals and recurring journals for prepayments and accruals
  • Support Financial Accountant in cash flow forecasting
  • Standard costs/sales & margin analysis
  • Customer analysis and profitability
  • Maintenance of reporting ensuring validity/accuracy with IT
  • Assistance in creation of MI Pack & Board pack
  • Facilitate and assist Production and IT with Standards update
  • Assisting with audit queries
  • Bank Payment authorisations
  • Management of team of 3 direct reports, 2 indirect reports
  • Bi-weekly, Monthly and annual ONS surveys
  • Christmas Club management
  • Stock valuation and analysis
  • Expenses journal posting and reconciliation
  • Working with departmental heads developing and maintaining financial reports
  • Review all spreadsheets for improvements; efficiencies and accuracy (for example a new Purchase Index report, or the profitability report created recently)
  • Responsibility for integration/understanding of the Accounts Function with Factory, IT, Marketing and Sales Office
  • Development of our Product & Profitability reporting and other Financial Modelling
  • Developing relationships with other departments and assisting with moving budget responsibility from HoF to individuals/departments
  • Helping to Integrate Sage with other software possible ERP
  • Responsibility with Financial Accountant for annual audit preparation and closure

  • CIMA or ACCA Finalist, or at least only having around 4 exams remaining
  • Previous experience as a Management accountant doing prepayments, accruals, journal postings and familiar with Fixed assets register
  • Able to work off your own initiative, whilst you will have support you do need to be someone who can 'find the solution' and be naturally inquisitive
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured environment
  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable as it would be a distinct advantage
