Management Accountant
Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire Employer: FMCG Group (via Hays Accountancy & Finance)
A dynamically growing FMCG business is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. This is a hands-on, varied permanent role reporting directly to the FP&A Manager, providing essential financial reporting, analysis, and business partnering to the operational leadership team.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will own and optimise management accounting processes, supporting strategic financial decision-making within an expanding business.
- Remote/offices hybrid model upon completion of a transition period (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

Key Responsibilities
- Monthly Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate management accounts, including profit & loss statements and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy within deadlines
- Develop monthly reporting packs with clear commentary on performance, variances, risks, and opportunities
- Reconcile fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, and journals with supporting schedules

Financial Analysis & Business Partnering:
- Analyse financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior-year data
- Identify core drivers of financial changes, communicating trends and insights
- Act as a trusted finance business partner, supporting operational and supply chain leadership
- Attend weekly site performance reviews, explaining financial variances to stakeholders
- Support CAPEX approval processes and strategic business decisions

Additional Duties:
- Maintain fixed asset registers and assist in year-end account preparation
- Post accruals and prepayments while conducting month-end control account reconciliations
- Mentor and develop junior finance team members, including the trainee accountant
- Contribute to finance process improvement projects
Person Specification – What You’ll Need
- Experience: Hands-on experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Qualifications: Part-qualified or qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA (qualified by experience applicants also considered)
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems or SAP Business One (advantageous but not essential)
- Knowledge of SQL (beneficial but not mandatory)
- Soft Skills:
- Proactive mindset with a focus on process improvement
- Strong deadline management and ability to handle competing priorities
- Adaptability to an SME environment
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining finance to non-financial teams
- Ideally experience in FMCG or manufacturing sectors (other sectors considered)

This role provides a competitive salary of £45,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus the following benefits:
