The Role
As a Management Accountant, you’ll have a dynamic role within Babcock’s Liquid Gas Engineering business, supporting a high-growth Marine portfolio operating in complex, project-based environments. This is a commercially focused finance role, offering real influence, autonomy, and visibility with senior leaders.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis
- Leading the month-end close process and ensuring robust financial controls
- Partnering with operational and commercial leaders to explain financial performance
- Maintaining rolling forecasts for revenue, profit, and cash flow
- Developing financial models to support planning, investment, and continuous improvement

Company Offerings
- 37-hour workweek (Monday–Friday)
- Hybrid working arrangement: 2 days in the office/onsite, 3 days from home
Essential Experience
- Time-served experience in management accounting within a project-led or engineering environment
- Proven technical accounting capability, including:
- Revenue recognition
- Financial controls
- Strong Excel skills with demonstrated financial modeling experience
- Ability to influence stakeholders through clear, actionable financial insight
Qualifications Required
- Professionally qualified accountant (CIMA preferred; ACCA or equivalent considered)
- Substantial post-qualification experience in:
- A management accounting or commercial finance environment
- Sound understanding of:
- Financial reporting
- Forecasting
- Governance
Security Clearance
The Standard (BPSS) security clearance is mandatory for this role. Eligibility may be affected by nationality, current/former citizenship, or residency. See UK Security Vetting Policy.
