What you'll do:
As the Management Accountant, you'll be at the heart of shaping this organisation's financial future. Your days will be filled with preparing vital financial documents like prepayments, accruals, and monthly management accounts - always ensuring records are spot-on. You'll collaborate enthusiastically with both finance colleagues and senior stakeholders, offering valuable insights through variance analysis that truly inform strategic choices. Your expertise will help drive system implementations forward, enhance reporting processes, and maintain rigorous controls over key accounts. Plus, you'll soon step into people management by supporting a Finance Assistant.

- Produce monthly management accounts on time, upholding exceptional accuracy and reliability throughout each reporting cycle.
- Prepare and post prepayments and accruals - including revenue accruals for Work In Progress (WIP) and retainer-based contracts.
- Dive deep into WIP analysis and create detailed reports that support precise revenue recognition throughout the business.
- Process payroll journals with care and perform thorough reconciliations to keep payroll-related accounts in perfect order.
- Deliver insightful variance analysis with commentary that empowers senior stakeholders to make well-informed decisions.
- Report Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheet positions directly to senior stakeholders, providing clear insights into financial performance.
- Prepare and share Flash reporting packs that highlight key financial metrics for quick reference by management teams.
- Carry out meticulous Balance Sheet reconciliations across all control accounts to ensure robust financial controls are always maintained.
- Take the lead on implementing a new finance system, championing best practices while guiding colleagues through change management processes.
- Support corporate tax analysis and assist during tax planning activities, helping ensure compliance and effective risk management.
What you bring:
For this Management Accountant position, you'll bring not only technical know-how but also genuine excitement for supporting others in a collaborative setting. Your background includes recent qualification as an accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), plus hands-on experience preparing management accounts under pressure.
- Demonstrate adaptability and comfort thriving in an evolving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Bring excellent interpersonal skills that help build positive relationships across teams and departments.
- Have proven experience preparing management accounts under tight deadlines while maintaining top-notch accuracy.
- Display experience conducting variance analysis with clear written or verbal commentary tailored for non-financial audiences.
- Be comfortable performing reconciliations on Balance Sheet accounts as part of regular month-end routines.
- Show enthusiasm for learning new systems or processes - ideally having contributed to previous finance system implementations or upgrades.
- Display an interest in developing people management skills or prior experience supervising junior staff would be advantageous.
