Job Description
Make your mark as a Management Accountant at Boskalis! The Management Accountant (PQ) plays an important role in supporting the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting across the business. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Project Controllers, the role contributes to the monthly management accounts for the Group’s largest entity and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and month-end preparation for several smaller subsidiary companies.
The role combines management accounting responsibilities with operational finance support, including plant and personnel cost reporting, contributing to accurate reporting, effective financial control and the timely delivery of key month, quarter and year-end activities.
This is a broad developmental opportunity for a part or newly qualified accountant looking to build multi-entity management accounting experience within a supportive group environment while continuing to develop technical and commercial finance skills.

Main Tasks
Management accounting
- Prepare and analyse management accounts for smaller subsidiary companies
- Support the preparation of management accounts for the Group’s largest company
- Ensure sales and purchase invoices are raised, coded and processed correctly
- Support VAT, CIS and other routine regulatory returns
- Prepare and analyse monthly cash flow reports
Operational finance support – plant costs
- Monitor and review plant-related capital and operational expenditure
- Prepare plant cost reporting, including maintenance and repair spend, providing analysis of actuals versus budget
- Review supplier expenditure for coding accuracy and budget alignment
- Reconcile fuel reports and support fuel consumption reporting requirements
Operational finance support – personnel costs
- Monitor staff-related expenditure and recoveries
- Support the administration of the timesheet system and assist users
- Recharge staff time to projects using available data sources
- Prepare staff cost and recovery reports, including days recovered, providing analysis versus budget
Other
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting for subsidiaries, plant and personnel costs
- Assist with the preparation and audit of the statutory accounts and year end procedures
- Carry out any other ad hoc duties as required
Required Knowledge & Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in an Assistant Management Accountant or Assistant Accountant or similar role
- Studying or intending to study towards a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures
- Experience of month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Working knowledge or exposure to VAT, CIS and other finance compliance requirements
- Good communication and IT skills, including intermediate Excel skills
- Proven ability to review financial information, problem solve & organise own workload
- Strong attention to detail
- Previous experience in a group or multi-entity environment an advantage.

Extra Information
- Your team: Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work as a Management Accountant, in the Finance Business Unit.
- Where you will work: You will be working predominantly at Westminster House in Fareham, Hampshire, UK. Whilst the role is based in Fareham, we offer up to 2 days a week hybrid working.
- Full/part-time job: The position of Management Accountant is a full-time job - 37.5 hours a week.
- Permanent/Fixed Term: This is a permanent position.
