Store Management Trainee – JD Sports

This management trainee role places you at the heart of store success, fostering leadership, team growth, and commercial achievement. You’ll play a key part in achieving ambitious sales targets, maintaining premium operational standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support store leadership to achieve sales targets and key KPIs, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Lead and motivate shopfloor colleagues, allocating tasks, aligning service delivery with JD standards, and enhancing team performance.
  • Assist in coaching and development, providing real-time feedback and reinforcing store expectations.
  • Maintain high standards in product presentation, pricing, visual displays, and store safety.
  • Handle operational duties, including:
    • Cash handling & till checks
    • Delivery processing & stock audits
    • Store opening/closing routines
    • Escalating issues responsibly

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in retail management or supervisory roles, ready to step into a leadership position.
  • Strong leadership and team development abilities.
  • Commercial acumen, with experience analysing KPIs, sales data, and supporting shift planning.
  • Exceptional communication skills for smooth customer and colleague interactions.
  • Proven sales performance contributing to KPI targets in a retail environment.

Preferred

  • Passion for sport, fashion, and the JD brand.
  • Proactive, solutions-driven problem-solving approach.
  • Hands-on attitude, guiding teams by example.
  • Resilience and adaptability in high-pressure situations.
  • Customer-centric mindset, committed to the premium JD experience.
