Manager - Accounting and Business Advisory

Description

As a dynamic and growing accountancy firm with over 1,000 employees, we are seeking a Manager to join our innovative and forward-thinking Accounts & Business Advisory team, to support the Dains group.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in providing strategic financial guidance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients.

You’ll play a key part in people management within the Accounts & Business Advisory team, contributing to and promoting team culture and maintaining good working relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted business adviser and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Provide proactive business, financial and strategic advice, helping clients identify opportunities, address challenges and achieve their growth objectives.
  • Use analytical procedures, accounting ratios and other benchmarking techniques to assess the viability of a client’s business and advise the client accordingly
  • Identify opportunities to add value through wider advisory services and collaborate with specialist teams across Dains to deliver holistic client solutions.
  • Support clients with business planning, cash flow forecasting, profitability improvement and operational decision-making.
  • Lead client meetings, presenting financial information in a clear and commercially focused manner to aid decision making.
  • Review accounts (unincorporated and incorporated) prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy and quality, before signing off by the Senior Manager/Partner.
  • Build a strong understanding of clients' businesses, industries and strategic goals to provide tailored advice throughout the year.
  • Manage the financial performance of a client portfolio, including WIP, billing, recoveries and debt management.
  • Work closely with Directors and Partners to deliver exceptional client service and identify opportunities for business development.
  • Support new business generation through networking, referrals, prospect meetings and converting enquiries into long-term client relationships.
  • Advise clients on cloud accounting systems and digital solutions (eg Xero, Sage, Quickbooks etc) helping businesses improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Manage, mentor and develop team members through to Senior level, providing coaching, technical guidance and performance support.
  • Liaise with senior leadership regarding resource planning and workload management.
  • Maintain strong communication across teams and departments to ensure a collaborative and client-centric approach.
  • Achieve chargeable hour and business performance targets whilst delivering a high-quality advisory service.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Education: You will be ACA or ACCA qualified with a full CPD record appropriate to requirement for your qualification.
  • Professional Experience: You have a proven track record in supervising a designated client portfolio including managing workflow, preparation, review, meeting the client, invoicing the work, and meeting statutory deadlines.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: You possess strong leadership qualities which enable you to mentor, train and develop the team through organisational skills, delegation, and clear guidance of processes, practices and systems / softwares.
  • Technical Skills: You have excellent knowledge of the main accounting systems in the marketplace (eg Xero, Sage, Quickbooks etc) in order to assist and advise clients accordingly.
  • Communication Skills: Your exceptional communication skills enable you to maintain effective and proactive communication with own team, management, other departments and clients.
  • Building relationships: You demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective, trusted relationships with clients. Proactively build rapport, deepening understanding of clients’ businesses, and contribute accordingly during prospective client meetings alongside Manager/Partner.
