Job Title: Manager, Strategy & Operations – ED (Early Development) Sub Team Planner
Division / Function: Strategy & Operations, Early Development, Research & External Innovation
Location: Paris (FR) or London (UK)
WHAT - Summary & Purpose of the Position
The Early Development department aims to build a sustainable, high-value portfolio. As part of the Strategy & Operations team, the Manager, Strategy & Operations – ED Sub Team Planner (EDSTP) contributes to this objective by supporting the coordination of operations of Early Development activities. The Strategy and Operations team’s mission is to optimize the functioning of this department and to continue its transformation, notably by seeking efficiency gains in processes and organization, and ultimately by monitoring and steering the early-stage portfolio.
The ED Sub Team Planner (EDSTP) plays a key role in supporting Early Development Sub Team by ensuring that activities are translated into structured, integrated plans that enable disciplined execution, cross-functional coordination, and end-to-end delivery of development activities. A core objective of the role is to enable teams to focus on scientific delivery by providing strong operational support. Fully embedded in the Asset-Centric Model (ACM), the EDSTP acts as a strategic planning partner and operational integrator, supporting the ED SubTeam Lead in structuring and driving development activities as integrated project plans while ensuring alignment with the overall asset strategy.
The role is responsible for maintaining, and driving the execution of SubTeam plans, ensuring that deliverables are anticipated, sequenced, and tracked with precision. With a proactive and structured planning mindset, the EDSTP translates strategy into actionable roadmaps, manages cross-functional interdependencies, and ensures timely and transparent delivery, while supporting scenario planning, risk mitigation, and resource forecasting.
A key responsibility of the role is to manage the translation of ED activities into OnePlan, Ipsen’s Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) tool, ensuring consistency, visibility, and alignment of planning data across teams and functions. The role also acts as a critical interface between ED Sub team, Strategy & Operations, and Asset Operations, ensuring transparency, alignment, and data consistency across the organization.
WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies
ED Sub Team Operational Leadership
- Partner with the ED Sub Team Lead and functional representatives to structure and maintain the Sub Team operational roadmap aligned with asset strategy and ED priorities.
- Support translation of scientific objectives into integrated, actionable project plans.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment on priorities, deliverables, timelines, and decision points, through evaluation of alternative options (scenarios) to deliver sub team objectives.
- Promote a disciplined planning and execution mindset across the Sub Team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
