Overview

Mastercard has a vision to build a leadership position as the only truly multi-rail payments technology company and Europe is at the forefront in defining and executing our multi-rail strategy. Commercial payments are a large opportunity for Mastercard in the UK market. This role will develop and grow our commercial products and solutions for large market B2B and Travel & Entertainment, supplier payments and embedded finance technology partnerships.

Key accountabilities of the role

  • Grow spend volumes & increased revenues by identifying and pursuing opportunities with new customers, active in the UK.
  • Execute on defined sales strategy through a segmented approach towards mid and large corporates, and partners.
  • Responsible for rigorous sales pipeline management across the different segments, coordinating with local product development and account management teams.
  • Introduce commercial cards and non-cards solutions to the market including expense management, virtual cards, business-to-business payments, working capital, supplier acceptance & onboarding and business intelligence.
  • Prospect, contact, and support contracting with new customers through multiple engagement channels including direct contacts, international meeting, events & conferences.
  • Play a consultative role in conversations with key decision makers at new customers.
  • Enhance ongoing business development relationships with the industry by attending & participating in webinars, and customer trainings in the commercial payments space, T&E and B2B space.

This is a sole contributor role.

All About You

  • Hunter mentality with a proven track record of creating, driving and winning new business with mid and large market corporates
  • Strong Commercial payments experience and knowledge with 3+ years’ experience in the payments or financial services sector.
  • Advanced level understanding of B2B payment flows, business needs and the purchase to pay process in large organisations
  • Demonstrated success introducing & selling existing and emerging platform based B2B commercial payments solutions.
  • A track record of executing clear sales action plans including forecasting & pipeline management.
  • Proven ability to build meaningful, trusting relationships with large and multinational customers.
  • Strong collaborator - able to build trusted partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Track record in consistently achieving business growth targets as sole contributor.
  • Comfortable with roles that require discretion, integrity, and agility

Experiences And Other Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to articulate solutions and value propositions to senior management stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and deliver results in a highly cross-functional environment.
  • High self-motivation and ability to work autonomously; “can do” attitude; strong customer and results orientation.
  • Experience in a SaaS based business development role within payments preferred
  • Fluency in English with other languages highly preferable
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other post graduate degree an advantage
