Job Description Key Responsibilities May Include: Collaborate with carriers to develop and implement cost-effective transportation solutions that meet service level expectations. Identify and drive transport collaboration opportunities within the CHEP network, working closely with commercial teams. Build and maintain carrier relationships, negotiating rates, ensuring capacity, and upholding service commitments. Stay updated on transportation industry trends by visiting key carrier and customer sites, attending industry events, and networking with industry representatives. Proactively identify areas for improvement, ensuring continuous process enhancements and sustainable change. Lead the implementation of best practices and ensure comprehensive training for team members to drive operational efficiency. Monitor carrier performance and hold regular reviews to ensure consistent service and cost optimization. Manager, Carrier Management – UK & Ireland Location: Manchester (hybrid, with regular site and supplier engagement) Type: Full time, Permanent Are you a commercially minded transport or logistics leader with experience managing complex carrier networks at scale? Do you thrive where cost optimisation, service delivery and stakeholder management collide, and where your decisions directly impact national supply chain performance? CHEP is hiring a Manager, Carrier Management – UK & Ireland, a critical role responsible for overseeing our carrier network across the region. You’ll own relationships with 150+ carriers, ensure capacity across all lanes, and drive performance, cost and compliance across a considerable transport spend. You’ll sit at the heart of our network, partnering with Supply Chain, Procurement and Commercial teams, while leading a team of analysts and coordinators to deliver consistent, high-performing transport solutions. This role blends operational delivery with commercial ownership, offering the opportunity to shape how our transport network performs today and evolves for the future. What We’re Looking For Experience & Capability Proven experience in transport, logistics or carrier management within complex, multi-site environments Strong understanding of the UK carrier market and transport operations at scale Track record of cost optimisation, supplier management and performance improvement Experience working cross-functionally with Procurement, Operations and Commercial teams Ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrix environment Leadership Behaviours Commercially astute, balancing cost, service and operational priorities Confident communicator at senior stakeholder level Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong people leader with the ability to develop and coach teams Key Responsibilities Ensure carrier capacity across all UKI lanes (contracted and spot market) Manage carrier performance (service, cost, compliance and systems) Build and maintain relationships with carriers at owner and director level Drive cost optimisation initiatives and transport efficiency improvements Partner cross-functionally to deliver effective transport solutions Lead and develop a team of 4 supporting carrier management activity Align UKI operations with European standards and frameworks Why Join CHEP?
