Senior Technical Researcher – CGMA Professional Qualifications
About the Role
You will report to and support the Technical Director in maintaining the technical integrity, relevance, and professional credibility of the CGMA Professional Qualification and related qualifications portfolio.
You will combine technical research with project and process coordination to support the planning and delivery of technical programmes across the qualification. This includes:
- Monitoring developments in professional practice, regulation, technology, and industry
- Translating insights into practical updates to syllabi, blueprints, and qualification materials
- Operating in a hybrid work schedule
Key Responsibilities
Technical Research & Strategy
- Conduct technical and professional research to support updates to the CGMA Professional Qualification.
- Monitor developments in professional practice, regulation, accounting standards and frameworks, technology, and sustainability, identifying potential impacts on qualification content.
- Analyse trends and translate technical findings into clear, structured outputs for the qualification development team.
Content Development & Coordination
- Prepare updated technical documentation following agreed direction, assisting in decision-making and cross-team discussions.
- Coordinate and support content updates and activities across the CGMA qualification portfolio, ensuring alignment on development priorities and timelines.
- Plan and schedule technical updates, ensuring team adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Deliver assigned technical updates and content changes, meeting defined timelines and quality benchmarks.

Internal Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist the Technical Director – PQ in coordinating technical inputs across workshops, development activities, and review cycles.
- Draft and update key technical materials including syllabi, blueprints, curricula, and qualification products.
- Develop technical documentation, consultation materials, and internal briefings in support of qualification updates.
- Collaborate with qualification design, assessment, and learning teams to leverage technical content effectively.
- Respond to routine technical queries and escalate complex issues as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- CGMA designation or an equivalent professional accounting qualification, alternatively, a relevant postgraduate degree.
- 3–6 years’ experience in management accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Practical exposure to the management accounting profession and its modern application.
- Ability to analyse technical or regulatory information and produce clear, concise written outputs.
- Proven track record in coordinating projects or workstreams within a technical setting.
