FP&A Analyst (Europe & APAC Focus)

About the Role

The FP&A Analyst will support the European and APAC regions by providing financial planning, forecasting, and analytical insights to business leads, corporate functions, and Head Office. You will play a critical role in driving cost efficiency, optimising financial processes, and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary finance partner for European business units and corporate function heads, particularly on cost-related matters.
- Build cross-functional relationships between business lines, support teams, and Head Office finance groups.
- Foster collaboration to align financial strategies with business objectives.
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation and refinement of annual expense plans, forecasts, and forward-looking financial analyses.
- Identify key risks and opportunities, delivering clear, actionable insights for decision-making.
- Coordinate quarterly and annual expense planning across Front Office and Support functions.
Management Reporting & Insight
- Produce monthly cost reports (UK & Ireland) with detailed commentary.
- Enhance reporting frameworks and champion continuous improvement in planning processes.
- Lead month-end cost reviews, identifying inefficiencies and recommending corrective actions.

Cost Control & Optimisation
- Promote cost discipline, uncovering savings opportunities and supporting management information (MI).
- Review and approve accruals and prepayments for the region.
Intercompany & Allocation Management
- Own TSA/SLA processes, including calculations, journal entries, settlements, and matrix maintenance.
- Monitor TSA charges for regulatory performance standards (RPS) and tax reporting compliance.
- Bridge the gap between global and local reporting, ensuring clear allocation impacts from Head Office.
Controls, Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks.
- Maintain related documentation and support UK MIS balance sheet attestations.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Drive improvements in processes, controls, and Excel tools aligned with EUC standards.
- Assist with MIS enhancements and projects using financial systems (EGL, OBI, Hyperion).
Operational Support & Culture
- Provide timely, high-quality responses to queries from both business and Head Office teams.
- Contribute to team coverage while upholding Scotiabank’s high-performance, inclusive culture.

Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Accountant or equivalent commercial finance experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with knowledge of Scotiabank’s core financial systems:
- EGL (Enterprise Fiscal Ledger)
- OBI (Oracle Business Intelligence)
- Hyperion
- Excellent analytical skills, including advanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, financial modelling).
- Ability to craft insightful financial analyses and recommendations for Senior Management.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments, balancing tight deadlines with creative problem-solving.
