Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace, bringing together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress.

Our strategy is focused on delivering strong underwriting performance, operating an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market — while continuing to build a Lloyd’s we are proud of.

How we deliver this, matters. We take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome — working together across our global network to turn insight into impact.

Manager, Direct Tax

Make the market better. It starts with you.

We’re looking for a Direct Tax Manager to join our Tax team in London. This is your opportunity to support the world’s leading insurance marketplace by providing tax advice and guidance on worldwide tax matters.

At Lloyd’s, we take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome. And in this role, you’ll play a key part in helping us do just that.

The role

You’ll work at the centre of our tax function, supporting both the Corporation and the wider Lloyd’s market on direct tax matters.

From compliance to advisory, you’ll bring clarity to complex issues. And you’ll help ensure we continue to operate with integrity, efficiency and confidence across global markets.

Principal Accountabilities

What you’ll be doing

  • Provision of direct tax technical analysis and input into projects for the Market and other functions within the Corporation.
  • Assist with lobbying of, and liaison with, UK and other tax authorities on behalf of the Market.
  • Management of the compliance process for Members’ income tax returns in specific countries.
  • Investigating legislative changes affecting the Market (with external advisers where necessary) and ensuring these changes are incorporated into tax compliance systems and processes.
  • Responding to queries from the Market.
  • Maintaining accurate tax information on Crystal+.
  • Act as a technical expert on direct tax matters for other departments.
  • Manage tax risk for the Market.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
