We seek a professional and driven candidate to join us as a Manager in our Financial Reporting team. The Financial Reporting Manager will support the Team Leader in overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the team. The role will involve high‑quality delivery of financial reporting services, effective team management, and the development of junior colleagues. The candidate will play a key part in maintaining a high-quality financial reporting service line, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery of financial reporting services

  • Preparation of statutory accounts, financial reports, consolidations and disclosures under a range of reporting and accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP (FRS 102 and FRS 101), and the Charities SORP).
  • Supporting the audit team with client queries regarding clients’ accounts.
  • Supporting the audit team in finalising statutory financial statement production as part of the audit process.
  • Liaising with departments across the firm to ensure client requirements are met and clients are provided with the highest level of service.
  • Act as a key contact with clients to identify client-specific areas of judgement when preparing the financial statements.
  • Understanding the regulatory requirements of each client and maintaining your CPD in relation to any regulator updates to relevant standards.
  • Providing ad hoc financial reporting advice and support to clients.
  • General and ad-hoc support to the Business Accounting and Advisory and audit teams.
  • Carrying out work profitably and on a timely basis, in accordance with the firm's professional standards and to the satisfaction of our clients and the firm’s management.
  • Delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Support the Team Leader in managing the Financial Reporting team’s workflow, priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the work of junior colleagues, including detailed review of financial statements, working papers, reconciliations, and other reporting deliverables to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and supporting hiring decisions.
  • Contribute to the performance appraisal process by providing input on individual performance, strengths, and development areas.
  • Lead onboarding activities for new starters, ensuring they receive the training, tools, and support needed to integrate effectively into the team.
  • Contributing to a continuous improvement ethos for the team.

Training & Professional Development

  • Identify skills gaps and collaborate with the Team Leader to design development plans for junior staff.
  • Mentor team members working toward professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA), offering guidance on both technical and soft‑skill development.
  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and proactive problem‑solving.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and enhance team efficiency.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives aimed at improving quality, consistency, and operational resilience.

Skills And Experience

The technical skills, experience and background we’d expect to see from candidates suitable for this opportunity include:

Essential Skills

  • Experience of preparing full sets of statutory accounts in a professional services environment. Experience of different accounting standards to include IFRS, UK GAAP, and Charity SORP.
  • Experienced in preparing consolidations for large international groups. Able to correctly account for the acquisition and/or disposals of subsidiaries and group reconstructions.
  • An appetite for professional self-development and providing exemplary levels of client service.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, being able to quickly and confidently build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike; shaping a proactive, responsive and value-adding service to our clients.
  • CCAB body membership, eg ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, ICAI, AICPA.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and working papers.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Desirable Skills

  • Some audit experience would also be preferable, though not essential.
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience in using Caseware for accounts preparation would be desirable, though not essential.
