Job Description

The Manager, International Research, will provide data, market insights, and cultural intelligence needed to successfully buy, license, and release films and TV across global territories. They will assist in evaluating whether a film or TV show will be profitable in specific countries and how it should be positioned for diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Market and Box Office Intelligence:
    • Historical Data Analysis: Extracting and evaluating past box office data from specific global regions to forecast how a new film might perform.
    • Trend Tracking: Monitoring shifts in audience preferences, localized streaming habits, and the financial performance of competing genres across international markets.
    • Competitor Mapping: Researching the upcoming release slates of international rival distributors to avoid scheduling conflicts and find optimal release windows.
    • Audience Persona Profiling: Gathering demographic data to pinpoint the exact target audience for a film in a specific country (e.g., age groups, interest segments).

Key Skills Required:

  • Market Research / Statistical Background with Passion for Film and TV
    • Strong experience or background in market research, analytics, statistics or similar, combined with a genuine interest in film, television, and the wider entertainment industry.
  • Cross-Functional Communication
    • Ability to translate complex data into clear, simple, and actionable insights for a range of stakeholders, including creative marketing teams, sales teams, and corporate finance executives.
  • Territory and Distribution Knowledge
    • Understanding of how film and TV distribution works across different regions, including windowing strategies such as theatrical, home entertainment, streaming, and other release models.
  • Strong Excel and Data Analysis Skills
    • Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and the ability to analyze large sets of data accurately and efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail
    • Strong accuracy and attention to detail when working with data, reports, market information, and commercial insights.
  • Ability to Identify Areas of Risk
    • Able to review data and market information critically, identifying potential risks, trends, anomalies, or areas requiring further investigation.
  • Ability to Manage Own Time and Workload
    • Well organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and requests with limited supervision.
  • Relevant Degree or Equivalent Experience
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Film/Cinema Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, Data Analytics, Global Business, Marketing, Modern Languages, or a related discipline, or the ability to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role.
