What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications and services.
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and support.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.
- Design and develop secure, scalable RESTful APIs.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support live production services.
- Champion engineering best practices, code quality, security, and performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance delivery.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience in Java development (including JVM-based languages such as Kotlin or Scala)
- Experience with:
- Spring Boot
- Spring MVC
- RESTful API design and development
- Secure coding practices and threat assessment
- Strong understanding of:
- Object-Oriented Programming
- SOLID principles
- Design patterns
- Software engineering best practices
- Experience with:
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- Git and version control strategies
- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines)
- Knowledge of:
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Application monitoring and performance optimisation
- Production support and troubleshooting
Desirable Skills
- Kafka, SQS, or other messaging technologies
- AWS Lambda or Serverless architectures
- Dynatrace, Splunk, ELK Stack, or similar monitoring tools
- JPA and Hibernate
- Swagger/OpenAPI
- Selenium, Axe, Postman, or Bruno
- Experience delivering complex projects from concept to production
- Experience working with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot

Interview process is condensed to two stages.
Salary: £54,000-£65,000 + £5,100 in cash benefits
