We help clients ensure their legal entity structures are fit for purpose, from designing and implementing structures to facilitate M&A, carve-outs and other restructuring activities, through to rationalising and simplifying group structures to reduce risk, cost and complexity. About the role: As a Manager you will take ownership of client engagements and be accountable for both delivery and commercial outcomes. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, working closely with Partners and Directors on strategy, risk management and client relationships. Take ownership of case economics, including budgeting, forecasting, fee management and margin control, proactively identifying opportunities to manage cost and deliver work efficiently without compromising quality or risk. Manage and oversee a portfolio of UK solvent liquidations, from initial client onboarding and appointment through to execution of the liquidation strategy, ensuring appropriate risk management, governance and cost control. Lead complex analysis and client discussions to understand objectives, key business drivers and constraints, translating these into pragmatic and commercially viable restructuring or simplification solutions. Identify, manage and mitigate delivery, legal and commercial risks across engagements, escalating issues where appropriate and proposing solutions. Drive innovation in how work is delivered, including the use of technology, data, standardisation and alternative delivery models to improve scalability, efficiency and client outcomes. Coordinate effectively with cross-Line of Service teams, the PwC global network and external professional advisers to deliver integrated solutions. Coach, develop and performance-manage junior team members, playing an active role in building capability, engagement and a strong team culture. Contribute to marketing and business development activities, including proposals, thought leadership and identifying opportunities to grow existing and new client relationships. What your days will look like: As a Manager, you’ll bring technical expertise, commercial insight, and leadership, to help clients through the complexities of dealmaking. Your day-to-day will include: Supporting live transactions end-to-end, from origination and marketing through to execution and completion, with ownership over key workstreams; Building trusted client relationships and delivering high quality work, across pitch documents, marketing materials, financial analysis and other transaction deliverables; Getting involved in our origination efforts; conducting detailed market, financial and commercial research, supporting with proposals, and meeting with potential targets; Supporting and coaching junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. This role is for you if: You have experience managing corporate simplification programmes and/or UK solvent liquidations, with a strong understanding of associated legal, commercial and risk considerations. Have demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects end-to-end, taking ownership of scope, delivery plans, milestones, dependencies and outcomes across multiple concurrent engagements. Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing engagement economics including budgets, fees, resourcing and recoverability, and making informed decisions to balance risk, cost and client value. Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and engage credibly with senior client stakeholders, Partners, Directors, cross-Line of Service teams and external advisers. A problem-solving and enquiring mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing approaches, manage ambiguity and introduce innovative ways of working to improve delivery efficiency and manage risk. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear, concise report writing and the ability to present complex issues in a structured and pragmatic way. Strong people leadership capability, with experience coaching, developing and performance-managing junior team members and contributing to their progression. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
