Manager of Logistics – Carrier Management

Location: Watford (GB), Home Office / EUR

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager of Logistics – Carrier Management to develop and embed supplier strategies that ensure a robust, predictable logistics network aligned with TJX Europe’s Logistics and Distribution goals.

Reporting to the AVP, Head of Carrier Management, this role will play a central role in shaping and delivering the Carrier Management strategy across Logistics, Distribution, and the wider TJX Europe business. You will oversee a supplier portfolio worth approximately £300m across 10 suppliers, designing strategies that support cost efficiency, service reliability, and sustainability—both in Europe and globally where applicable.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead continuous market analysis, monitoring logistics trends, carrier capabilities, pricing benchmarks, emerging technologies, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Define and implement carrier strategies that drive:
    • Cost efficiency
    • Service reliability
    • Sustainability
  • Partner with key stakeholders (Logistics Operations, Customs, Strategy & Analytics, Distribution Finance, Legal, Global Sourcing & Procurement) to set, measure, and optimise performance against critical metrics.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Segment carriers by:
    • Service type
    • Geographic coverage
    • Strategic importance
    • Develop tailored approaches for core and non-core providers.
  • Build and nurture internal and external relationships to foster innovation, continuous improvement, and business performance.
  • Negotiate contracts and multi-year agreements to ensure stability, predictability, and value for TJX Europe.
  • Assess carrier financial health and operational resilience, identifying risks and developing contingency plans for disruptions.

Performance & Sustainability

  • Develop and implement scorecards and dashboards to measure carrier performance, leading regular optimisation reviews.
  • Integrate ESG criteria into supplier selection and evaluation, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and TJX standards.
  • Benchmark carrier rates, leading contract reviews and renegotiations as needed.

Leadership & Functional Support

  • Contribute to functional planning, talent development, performance management, and objective-setting as part of the Logistics Leadership Team.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience leading teams within Logistics, Distribution, or Supply Chain functions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into business outcomes.
  • Experience in:
    • Leading tender processes
    • Supplier negotiations
    • Contract management activities
  • A strong leader and coach, capable of motivating teams and influencing decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to balance risk, business impact, and commercial objectives.
  • Adaptable, self-aware, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, particularly with external stakeholders.
