Role Overview

Results in Clean, affordable energy for all. Within the advancement of Britain’s Small Modular Reactor (SMR), we seek a Manager – Site-Specific Layout & Installations proficient in translating complex design into site-ready solutions.

This pivotal hybrid role—primarily nested at Derby, Warrington or Manchester—places you at the forefront of engineering integration that drives innovation across installation, layout, constructability, and modularisation through multidisciplinary execution.

The Mission

Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) seeks to deliver clean, affordable green energy while pushing the UK toward global leadership in export technology. As a UK nuclear technology specialist, we aim to provide scalable, effective energy solutions with an emphasis on affordability, sustainability, and excellence.

The Team

The CSA Installation & Modular Integration Team (under the umbrella of Engineering) operates as a critical hub of integration. Its role involves translating complex engineering designs into the buildable formats necessary for efficiency, safety and repeatability on global SMR projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own responsibility for leading a team of circa six engineers dedicated to developing Reactor Island and installation layouts adapted to Regulatory requirements and site-specific challenges in the UK and Czechia.
  • Shape design solutions that comply with Zoning, constructability, safety, and operational performance standards.
  • Drive effective layout & discipline integration spanning Structures, Systems, Components and Conventional Island, ensuring accuracy in design and implementation.
  • Deliver ** melhores alignment with architectural, access, and safety strategies** through a managed federated CAD model.
  • Collaborate with licensing success governance to enable smoother iterations and various constructability risk evaluations.
  • Manage expandable deliverables with strong performance delivery against cost, quality and schedule priorities.
  • Guide a high-performing team by offering mentorship and facilitating talent growth.

What You’ll Deliver

  • Translate Generic Design Intent into regulatory-compliant, buildable designs ready for real-world applications.
  • Integrate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver operational outcomes for the entire Reactor Island.
  • Ensure configuration, requirements, and variant management meticulously aligned with governance and traceability protocols.
  • Lead deliverables, and alignment strategies tied to architectural, access, safety, and zoning compliance.
  • Craft and own risk mitigation strategies to align budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Drive team empowerment through leadership, effective teen nucleation, and development of technical skills.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Skills & Expertise

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline alongside pursuit toward Chartered status (or currently working toward it).
  • Extensive experience delivering complex layout or installation design programs, from concept ideation to detailed definition.
  • Deep knowledge of regulated environments, including:
    • Developments in integrated engineering models like requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS).
    • Configuration control mechanisms & gated design review processes.
  • Proven ability as a lead in engineering teams, orchestrating multidisciplinary integrations, and championing high-performing execution tactics.
  • Familiarity with nuclear or highly regulated industry standards as well as international codes and regulations considered a advantage.

Location & Expectations

  • Hybrid flexible model can be deployed from one of these hubs: Derby, Manchester, or Warrington.
  • Direct experience in in-person collaboration crucial, with occasional requirement for travel to UK offices, customer sites, and international locations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Includes an annual salary range of £60,000–£78,750.
  • Performance-related opportunities, including object bonus plans up to 7%.
  • Benefits Allowance: Totaling £2,200 per annum allowing for bespoke package customization.
