Role: Manager – Site-Specific Layout & Installations
Locations: Hybrid working with one of the following closest locations as primary: Derby, Warrington or Manchester

The Team
Within Engineering, the CSA Installation & Modular Integration team plays a pivotal role in translating complex design into buildable, site-ready solutions. Operating at the heart of engineering integration, the team drives innovation across:
- Layout
- Constructability
- Modularisation
to enable efficient, safe, and repeatable deployment.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager (Reactor Island Layout), the Manager – Site-Specific Layout & Installations will lead a team of circa six engineers to deliver:
- Site-specific Reactor Island layouts, derived from the Generic Design
- Deployment support for both the UK and Czechia
This is a highly visible, integration-focused role with responsibility for:
- Developing layout solutions that interpret country-specific regulatory requirements
- Coordinating multidisciplinary inputs
- Ensuring designs are optimised for constructability, safety, and operational performance
The role is pivotal in enabling licensing success while shaping scalable and repeatable design solutions across multiple sites.
What You’ll Be Delivering
- Lead integrated delivery of site-specific Reactor Island layouts, translating the generic design intent into compliant, buildable solutions
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across:
- Structures
- Systems
- Components
- Conventional Island to deliver fully integrated outcomes
- Own configuration, requirements, and variant management, ensuring robust governance and traceability of the design evolution
- Manage the federated CAD model for Reactor Island and align it with:
- Architecture
- Access
- Safety
- Zoning strategies
- Develop and own delivery plans, managing risk and performance against cost, quality, and schedule goals
- Build and lead a high-performing team to:
- Support capability growth
- Facilitate coaching
- Effectively deploy resources

What You’ll Bring
This pivotal, high-impact leadership role requires technical credibility, systems thinking, and delivery focus. Additional critical attributes include:

Qualification: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, preferably with Chartered status (or close to attaining it)

Experience:
- Delivering complex layout or installation design programmes from concept to detailed design
- Operating within regulated environments
- Strong systems engineering, requirements management (e.g., DOORS), configuration control, and gated design review experience
- Leading engineering teams in multidisciplinary settings
- Managing technical and programme risk

Advantageous:
- Awareness of nuclear or highly regulated industry standards
- Exposure to international codes and regulations
Location
Offers hybrid flexibility across primary locations:
- Derby
- Manchester
- Warrington
Regular in-person collaboration is essential, with occasional travel required to:
- UK offices
- Customer locations
- International sites
What’s in It for You
- Salary Range: £60,000 - £78,750 per annum (including opportunity for performance-related bonuses)
- Allowance: £2,200 per annum (to create a bespoke package)
- Pension: 12% employer contribution + 6% employee contribution
- Holidays: 28 days of annual leave (including public holidays) with flexibility to buy or sell up to 4 days
- Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single-cover health care
- Life Assurance: 6x pensionable salary
- New Starter Incentive: £250 one-time payment for home office setups
