The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager to join EY’s market-leading US/UK Cross-Border Tax team. You’ll manage a diverse and complex portfolio of clients, ensuring outstanding client service across compliance and advisory engagements. You’ll also play a key leadership role — reviewing returns, managing staff, supporting their development, and upholding EY’s commitment to quality and integrity.
This role offers the opportunity to work with international clients, build deep relationships, and expand your technical expertise within a dynamic, high-performing team.
Our US/UK Cross-Border Tax team combines the best of both practices to deliver exceptional client service and global reach. With over 45 years of experience advising US and UK private clients, we guide individuals through the complex tax regulations and planning considerations that apply across jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilties
Manage a portfolio of clients with complex US and/or UK tax affairs, ensuring exceptional service and timely delivery. Plan and delegate work effectively, overseeing the end-to-end compliance process. Lead billing processes, ensuring deadlines and financial targets are met. Work with the Credit Control team to support timely payment of invoices. Review complex returns with accuracy and rigour, signing off completed work as agreed with senior management. Identify cross-disciplinary tax issues (including estate, gift, IHT, or corporate tax) and coordinate with relevant specialists. Coach and mentor junior team members, supporting their professional growth and performance. Oversee the technical, personal, and administrative development of assigned staff, escalating personnel matters as needed. Maintain EY’s high standards of risk management, quality, and client service. Act as a role model for EY’s values, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Collaborate flexibly across teams, providing support to colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Skills And Attributes For Success
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated professional who demonstrates:
ATT qualification and US tax certification (Enrolled Agent or CPA) — CTA qualification desirable but not essential. At least five years’ experience in professional practice, operating at a similar level. Strong technical knowledge of both US and UK tax compliance and advisory work. Proven ability to deliver high-quality client service in person, by phone, and via email. Experience managing billing, reviewing and signing out returns, and overseeing junior staff. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Great attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Proven people management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Confidence to influence, persuade, and manage challenging client situations with professionalism and tact. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Proficiency with relevant IT systems and tax software.
