Manager / Associate Director of Scientific and Strategic Operations (AI Innovation)
About the Role
The AI Accelerator—based in London and part of Computational Innovation (@computationalinnovation)—aims to transform drug discovery by applying AI-driven computational biology and multimodal data integration to uncover disease biology and improve clinical outcomes.
This centrally positioned role supports the Head of AI/ML in establishing operational discipline, strategic alignment, and cross-functional execution within the AI Accelerator. As the role evolves alongside the team, you’ll bridge science, strategy, and execution to turn cutting-edge AI into tangible portfolio impact.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will:
- Work closely with AI Accelerator Leadership and Computational Innovation (CI) Leadership Team to align long-range planning with operational delivery.
- Collaborate with the global CI PMO to develop operational frameworks, governance, and tools that ensure swift, compliant, and high-impact execution.
- Track AI portfolio milestones, dependencies, and risks, intervening when high-level support is needed to mitigate obstacles.
- Prepare executive-level updates—covering scientific progress, technological milestones, and strategic alignment—for leadership reviews and stakeholder decision-making.
- Serve as a strategy multiplier, advising initiative owners on trade-offs, clarifying expectations, and helping pivot quickly in response to new priorities.
- Drive cross-functional delivery, ensuring AI capabilities are deployed effectively across the portfolio to drive translational impact for patients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
