About ERM

ERM is a leading global sustainability consultancy, established over 50 years ago with the goal of helping the world’s leading organisations build a sustainable future. With over 8,000 people across offices worldwide and expertise spanning all areas of sustainability, we support clients to deliver meaningful change and long-term value.

People are at the heart of what ERM does. We are committed to the personal and professional development of our staff, with tailored development plans that enable individuals to grow their careers in line with their ambitions.

About the Low Carbon Solutions Team

ERM’s Low Carbon Solutions (LCS) team includes over 100 experts in sustainable energy, working across areas such as energy networks, smart systems, low carbon buildings, transport, hydrogen, fuels, chemicals, energy policy, sustainability assessment, and innovation. As the urgency of the energy transition continues to grow, we are seeing increasing demand from organisations seeking to understand their role and respond effectively.

Our team works at the forefront of this transition, advising network operators, governments, developers, investors, and corporates on how to deliver and operate low carbon energy systems.

We offer a collegiate and collaborative working culture, a competitive salary, and the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of the energy transition. If you are driven by our goal to decarbonise the energy system and want to work with excellent like-minded people, then a role at ERM within the LCS team could be for you.

Decarbonisation – Electricity Networks & Energy Systems

Energy networks — particularly electricity transmission and distribution — are critical to delivering Net Zero. Alongside this, energy systems thinking (spanning generation, networks, demand, and markets) is essential to ensure the system operates efficiently and reliably as it decarbonises.

Delivering an energy system that is fit to meet the challenges of decarbonisation will require innovative technology, imaginative business models, and robust policymaking. ERM supports clients including electricity network operators, system operators, regulators, policymakers, developers, and investors to shape and deliver this transition.

We are seeking individuals with strong expertise in electricity networks and markets to join our growing team.

The Role

As a Managing Consultant, you will play a central role in delivering high-impact projects and supporting the growth of our electricity networks and energy systems offering. You will:

  • Lead the delivery of complex projects, managing small teams and ensuring high-quality outputs
  • Provide strategic and technical advice to clients on electricity networks, markets, and decarbonisation
  • Combine technical expertise with strong client engagement and commercial awareness
  • Play an active role in business development, including shaping opportunities and winning work

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
