Quantity Surveyor - Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support at FenwayXⁿ
About the Role
FenwayXⁿ, a growing team of highly experienced quantity surveying experts based in London, seeks ambitious, self-motivated, and proactive team players to join their ranks. This opportunity offers rich development prospects while working alongside a small, internationally focused team on a diverse range of construction and engineering projects.
Role Suitability & Background
This role is ideal for professionals with a background in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline, possessing at least 5 years of experience. Relevant exposure could include work with contractors, consultants, or clients in construction and engineering projects.
Candidate selection will prioritise those with prior experience working with:
- Independent Expert Witnesses
- Dispute resolution processes
- Expert report preparation—including crafting of quantum analyses, appendices, and evidentiary documents.
Core Responsibilities
Expert Dispute & Litigation Support
- Assisting world-renowned dispute resolution experts in litigation support and expert witness evidence preparation
- Ensuring high-quality research, document review, and analysis to compile key metrics for technical reports

Quantification & Claim Analysis
- Performing quantum analysis covering cost claims, alongside quantification of:
- Prolongation impacts
- Construction disruption
- Financial claims for litigation or review purposes
- Developing robust supporting documentation to substantiate expert assessment
Reporting & Case Workload Management
- Contributing to expert reports, including drafting specific sections
- Managing cross-functional project timelines, workloads, and fee reporting
- Collaborating with clients and legal teams as needed
Responsibility & Flexibility
- Acting as an adaptable problem-solver, applying structured analytical thinking to complex commercial or technical issues
- Demonstrating a proactive approach, with readiness to travel domestically or internationally as required
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Degree-level qualification in:
- Building construction
- Civil engineering
- Quantity surveying
- Or a related construction or engineering discipline

Experience
- Minimum 5 years in relevant roles such as:
- Quantity surveying
- Cost engineering
- Contracts management
- Construction management
Technical & Skillset Requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly:
- Microsoft Word (advanced document drafting)
- Microsoft Excel (data modeling, financial forecasting)
- Prior use of commercial software such as CostX or BIM tools
- Hands-on experience in:
- Quantum analysis
- Cost disproportionality evaluations
- Disruption and delay claim quantification
- Demonstrable ability to draft or support expert reports for:
- Arbitration hearings
- Arbitration reports
- Construction dispute documentation
Professional Attraction
- English fluency (written & spoken) essential (other languages advantageous)
- Registrable status with or progress toward a recognised body e.g.
- RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
- CIArb (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators)
- Related professional memberships
