Why This Role Matters

This is an exciting time to join Remote— Managing Counsel - Partnerships, where you’ll play a pivotal role in the global HR-tech space. You’ll be the seasoned, business-oriented commercial lawyer who:

  • Delivers pragmatic and innovative legal solutions for Remote’s products and stakeholders.
  • Protects the company while enabling growth through strategic partnerships.

You’ll be an independent senior contributor—no managerial responsibilities—and will report to Director, Legal - Commercial to:

  • Shape global partnership deals, including embedded/reseller/channel arrangements.
  • Provide critical support to the EMEA sales team, collaborating with existing EMEA sales and DP counsel for seamless regional coverage.

What You Bring to the Role

Must-Haves

  • Strategic partnership experience: Leading contract structuring and negotiation for embedded/services, channel/reseller, and referral agreements.
  • Enterprise-level commercial drafting skills: Proficient in crafting clear, precise, and enforceable partner networks that balance protection and scalability.
  • Strong negotiation skills: Creative solutions, navigating complexity toward efficient deal execution.
  • Data protection expertise: GDPR mastery (U.S. data protection laws also a plus).
  • Fast-paced ambassadorship: Responsive, adaptable, and resilient under pressure.
  • Technical polarity: Automation & AI literacy required.
  • Independent partnership and GTM collaboration: Ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships without authority conflicts.

Key Responsibilities

Core Missions 🔍

  • Strategic & Creative:
    • Draft, negotiate, and structure complex partnership agreements (embedded, channel/reseller, reseller referral).
    • Drive scaling efficiency: Enabling integration of international partners with seamless contracting.
  • Business Collaboration:
    • Partner with Sales, Finance and other cross-functional teams to shape agreements aligned with business goals.
  • Process & Knowledge Building:
    • Develop standardisation & automation tools for smooth, recurring partnership execution.
    • Own deals playbooks that improve team accessibility.
  • EMEA Support:
    • On occasions, assist EMEA sales in negotiation support, keeping local coverage seamless.
  • Education & Trust-Briefing:
    • Equip non-legal colleagues with legal expertise to reduce heavy reliance on approvals.
  • Graceful Negotiation:
    • Restructure contracts to suppress roadblocks, foster trust, and advance deal velocity.

  • Team: Legal - Commercial (Direct Sales & Partnerships)
  • Timezone Preference: EMEA primary / AMER East (-sufficient overlap preferred).

Salary Range: $66,300—$149,150 USD (subject to negotiation per the below factors).

  • Global transfers: The true value hinges on factors like:

    • Location/country/EC pay parity.
    • Candidate experience, tribal knowledge &sharing.
    • Business context & skill demand.
  • Internal Mobility: Open-door pathways exist through Transitions policy, supported via Total Rewards. Updates undergo case-by-case adjustment.
